Judis formal training was in fashion and fabric design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, but it was not until 1980 that she began apprenticing in a jewelry
workshop and discovered her love of jewelry making.
She has devoted the past ten years to creating engagement and wedding rings for
private clients, meeting personally with brides to bring their very particular
ideas about settings and stones from dream to reality.
Through this process she has honed her skills, expanded her knowledge of precious
stones, pearls and metals, and developed a deep understanding of the jewelry-making
art.
Today, her New York City studio and workshop employs 14 skilled artisans and
craftspeople who produce Judith Kupermanns distinctive range of finely
designed pieces for the collector of the unique and original.
My designs are free flowing and organic. They have substantial weight and
are very tactile. says Kupermann. It is important to me that they
feel as wonderful to touch and hold as they are to admire.
